SIP Trunks
SIP trunks that bring your existing phone system up to date.
If you own an IP phone system and it still serves you well, SIP trunks let you keep it. Valley VoIP delivers your lines and phone numbers over the internet, with the capacity you need and no more.
What a SIP trunk is
SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol, the standard that sets up voice calls over an internet connection. A SIP trunk is the modern replacement for a bundle of telephone lines. Instead of copper pairs or a dedicated circuit, your phone system connects to Valley VoIP over your internet connection, and your calls travel as data.
Pay for the capacity you use
Traditional lines come in fixed quantities. A PRI circuit, for example, delivers 23 call paths whether you need 8 or 23. SIP trunks are sized to your business. You choose how many simultaneous calls you need, and that number can be raised for a busy season and lowered afterward without installing anything.
Keep your phone system
If your organization has invested in an IP phone system, SIP trunks protect that investment. Your handsets, your programming, and the way your staff use the phones all stay the same. Only the connection to the outside world changes.
Numbers wherever you do business
SIP trunks are not tied to a local telephone exchange. You can have phone numbers from different cities and states delivered to one phone system, give each employee a direct number, and bring toll-free numbers onto the same service.
Built to keep you reachable
When a traditional line is cut, calls simply fail. With SIP trunks, calls can be redirected automatically to another site or to mobile phones if your phone system or internet connection becomes unreachable, so callers still get through.

Questions
Common questions
What is the difference between SIP trunks and hosted voice?
With SIP trunks, you keep and manage your own phone system and we provide the lines. With hosted voice, the phone system itself runs in the cloud and we provide the phones and equipment for free.
Will SIP trunks work with my phone system?
SIP trunks work with IP phone systems and PBXs that support the SIP standard. Tell us the make and model of your system and we will confirm compatibility. Older systems that cannot use SIP can be served with a PRI trunk instead.
